Terms of Service
Last updated: July 14, 2026 · Effective: July 14, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Warden application and this website (together, the "Service"), provided by SoftwareDevTeam ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
2. What Warden is (and isn't)
Warden is an on-device firewall that uses Android's VPN interface to block network connections locally on your device. It lets you decide, for each app, whether it may reach the network, at what times, and over which type of connection.
- Warden is not a remote/anonymizing "privacy VPN". It does not route your traffic through our servers, hide your IP address from the sites you visit, encrypt your traffic, or defeat geo-restrictions.
- Warden blocks whole apps. It is not an ad blocker, tracker blocker, or content filter: it contains no blocklists and does not filter individual domains or hosts, so an app you allow may still reach any server it wishes.
- Blocking depends on Android's VPN interface and on the app being correctly attributed to a connection, which is not possible on every Android version. Warden cannot guarantee that every unwanted connection is blocked, or that legitimate traffic is never blocked.
- Filtering may interfere with the behavior of other apps or services; you are responsible for the rules you configure.
3. Licence to use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for lawful purposes. The app is distributed free of charge. You may not resell the Service, or reverse engineer, modify, or create derivative works except as permitted by applicable law.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- violate any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of others;
- circumvent security controls or gain unauthorized access to any system or network;
- interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or any related infrastructure; or
- misrepresent the Service or use it to harm, deceive, or defraud others.
5. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will block any particular threat or protect against every risk. You use the Service at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining backups and the security of your device.
6. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SoftwareDevTeam AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE. BECAUSE THE APP IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO EUR 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
7. Donations
Warden is free to use. Any donation you make through Buy Me a Coffee, Ko-fi, PayPal, GitHub Sponsors, or another provider is voluntary and processed by that third party under its own terms. Donations are not a purchase, do not entitle you to any product, feature, service level, or support commitment, and are generally non-refundable except as required by law or the payment provider's policy.
8. Third-party services
The Service may link to or rely on third parties (for example, Google Play and donation platforms). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their terms and privacy policies.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and uninstall the app at any time. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or any part of it, at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 5, 6, and 11) will survive.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice where practical. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts of Athens, Greece will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where prohibited by applicable law (in particular, where mandatory local consumer-protection rules apply). If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
