1. Scope & who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the Find My Car mobile application (the "App"), provided by SoftwareDevTeam ("we", "us", "the Developer"), handles information. It applies only to the App and not to any third-party website, service, or app the App may link to or open.
By using the App you acknowledge the practices described here. The guiding principle is simple: the App is built so that we never need — and never receive — your personal information.
2. What we don't collect
We designed the App to be privacy-preserving by default. We do not:
- require you to create an account, register, or log in;
- collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details;
- send your saved places or location to us or to any server we control;
- use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, cookies, or cross-app trackers;
- build a profile of you or sell, rent, or share any information about you.
Because we don't operate a backend for the App, we have no database of users and nothing personal about you to look up, disclose, or lose.
3. Data the App keeps on your device
The App stores the following locally on your device, in its private app storage, so that it can work. This information stays on the device and is not transmitted to us:
- Saved places — the geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) you choose to save, an optional location accuracy value, an optional name/label you type, a type (e.g. car, stay, market), and the time you saved it.
- Your current location — used momentarily to save a spot and to calculate the live distance and compass direction back to a saved place. It is processed on your device in real time and is not recorded or sent anywhere by us.
- App preferences — such as theme, text size, chosen language, and whether the notification prompt has been shown.
You are in full control of this data and can remove it at any time (see Deleting your data).
4. Permissions we request
The App requests only the permissions it needs to function, and explains each in context:
- Location (precise & approximate) — to save where you are and to guide you back with distance and direction. Location is used on your device only.
- Notifications (Android 13+) — optional, to show the ongoing "you're parked here" reminder with quick actions. You can decline or disable it any time.
- Network state — to detect whether you currently have an internet connection, so the App can choose between opening Google Maps (online) and its built-in offline compass. It does not read the content of your network or browse the internet on your behalf.
You can review or revoke permissions at any time in your device's system settings. The App handles a declined or revoked permission gracefully.
5. Third-party services
The App keeps third parties to a minimum:
Google Play Services (Location)
To obtain your device's location, the App uses the location API provided by Google Play Services, a system component from Google present on most Android devices. Location is delivered to the App on your device. Google's handling of location at the platform level is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Maps / your maps app / browser
When — and only when — you tap "Navigate", the App opens an external maps application (typically Google Maps) or your browser, passing the coordinates of the saved place. From that moment, your interaction is with that separate app and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not this one.
The App contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics.
6. Storage, backup & retention
Storage. Your saved places and preferences are stored only in the App's private storage area on your device.
Backup. Android may include the App's data in your device's automatic system backup to your own Google account / Google Drive. This backup is created and controlled by Android and Google under your device settings — it is not accessible to us. You can turn off backup for the App (or entirely) in your device's Backup settings.
Retention. Data remains until you delete individual items, clear them within the App, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes the App's local data from the device (any system backup is managed by Android/Google under your control).
7. Deleting your data
You are always in control. You can:
- delete any saved place from within the App;
- clear your saved parking spot from the App (or its notification);
- uninstall the App to remove its local data from the device;
- disable or delete device backups via Android's system Backup settings.
8. Children's privacy
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Because we collect no personal data at all, no special data-handling for children is required on our side.
9. Your rights & control
Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) grant rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability of personal data held by a company. Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, export, or erase — and we have nothing to sell or share. All of your data lives on your device and is fully within your control, as described above.
If you believe you have a request that nonetheless applies to us, you may contact us using the details below.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes may also be highlighted within the App or its store listing. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
