Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones SoftwareDevTeam uses on softwaredevteam.gr, why we use them, and how you can control them. It is written in compliance with the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), Greek Law 3471/2006 (as amended), and the GDPR (EU) 2016/679.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site's owners.
Cookies are not programs — they cannot execute code, carry viruses, or install software. They are simply data files stored by your browser. Most cookies contain a unique anonymous identifier used to recognise your browser on return visits, along with a name, a value, the domain that created them, and an expiry date.
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as:
- Local Storage / Session Storage: Browser-side storage similar to cookies but not sent to the server on every request. We use this solely to remember your cookie consent preference (key:
sdt_cookie). - Web beacons (pixels): Tiny transparent images embedded in pages or emails that can detect whether a page has been viewed. We do not currently use standalone web beacons.
- Browser fingerprinting: We do not use browser fingerprinting or any other technique designed to identify you without a cookie.
Unless this policy states otherwise, all references to "cookies" include similar storage technologies.
Cookie Categories We Use
We group cookies into four categories aligned with the IAB Europe framework and HDPA guidance. We currently use three of these — we do not set marketing or advertising cookies.
Cookies & Storage We Use
The table below lists every cookie and local storage item set on this website. We audit this list whenever we update the site and update this policy accordingly. If you discover a cookie not listed here, please report it to privacy@softwaredevteam.gr.
Legal Basis for Cookie Use
Our use of cookies is governed by two overlapping legal frameworks:
Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive requires that the storage of, or access to, information already stored on a user's device is allowed only if the user has given prior, informed consent — except where the storage or access is strictly necessary for the delivery of a service explicitly requested by the user.
Our essential cookies (including the consent preference stored in localStorage) fall within this exemption. Our analytics cookies require, and only operate with, your prior consent.
To the extent that cookies process personal data (e.g. an IP address linked to a cookie identifier), GDPR Article 6 also applies:
- Essential cookies: Art. 6(1)(f) — Legitimate Interests (necessary website operation). A balancing test confirms that users' reasonable expectation that a website will function outweighs any privacy impact of purely functional cookies that hold no personally identifiable information.
- Analytics cookies: Art. 6(1)(a) — Consent. You freely choose whether to accept these. Withdrawal is straightforward and has no consequence for your ability to use the site.
Our consent mechanism is designed to meet the GDPR definition of valid consent: it is freely given (refusing has no penalty), specific (by category, not a blanket accept), informed (this policy and the banner provide full information), and unambiguous (requires an affirmative action — clicking "Accept All"). You can withdraw consent at any time with the same ease as giving it.
Your Cookie Preferences
You can review and update your cookie preferences at any time using the panel below. Changes take effect immediately — analytics cookies will be activated or deactivated accordingly.
Your preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key sdt_cookie. The value 1 means you accepted analytics cookies; 0 means essential only. This storage is device- and browser-specific — if you use a different browser or device, or clear your browser data, you will be asked again.
You may withdraw consent at any time by returning to this page and selecting "Essential Only", or by clearing your browser cookies and localStorage (which will reset your preference and show the consent banner again on your next visit). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before you withdrew.
Controlling Cookies via Your Browser
In addition to managing preferences through our consent widget (Section 5), you can control, restrict, or delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies will prevent essential cookies from working and may cause parts of the website to malfunction.

Third-Party Cookies & Direct Opt-Outs
Some cookies listed in Section 3 are set by third-party providers (currently Google). These cookies are governed by each provider's own privacy policy. We hold Data Processing Agreements with each provider and have configured their tools with privacy-enhancing settings (e.g. IP anonymisation).
In addition to our consent widget, you can opt out directly via each provider's own tools:
Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers allow you to send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal to websites you visit, expressing your preference not to be tracked. There is currently no legally binding standard requiring websites to respond to DNT signals — the W3C specification was withdrawn in 2019 and no enforceable obligation exists under current EU law.
Our position: we treat DNT signals as a recommendation. Where we detect a DNT header (DNT: 1), we will not activate analytics cookies even if you have previously accepted them, unless and until you explicitly override this by accepting all cookies via our consent widget.
A more reliable mechanism for controlling tracking is to use our consent widget (Section 5) or your browser's built-in privacy controls (Section 6), as these operate regardless of how a site responds to DNT.
Children's Privacy
Our website is directed exclusively at business professionals. We do not knowingly set cookies on devices used by individuals under the age of 16 (or such higher age as applies in their EU Member State of residence under GDPR Article 8).
If you are under 16, please do not use this website or provide any information through it. If we become aware that cookies have been stored on a device belonging to a minor, we will take steps to delete that data. Please contact privacy@softwaredevteam.gr if you believe this has occurred.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookies or change our use of existing ones — for example, if we switch analytics providers, add new functionality, or if regulatory guidance changes. When we update the policy, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and in the sidebar
- Increment the version number
- Where a material change involves new non-essential cookies, display a new consent banner to all visitors so you can review and re-confirm your preferences
- Where the change affects only essential cookies or otherwise has no impact on your consent choices, update the policy without triggering a new banner
We recommend bookmarking this page and checking it periodically, especially if you are a returning business client or partner who has given consent previously.
